It has been such a busy summer. We really enjoyed the last two weeks in Okinawa. We visited alot of cool site-seeing places. See pics. J replaced my wedding ring with a new three stoned ring for our anniversary while we were there. It was a much needed break way from Iwakuni. Now that we are home, we’ve been busy catching up and school starts Monday. B got the teacher that I wanted to see him have. I think its going to be a good & tough year for him. He’ll be learning Japanese, Spanish, and more English. At least I can help him form getting his Spanish confused with the Japanese. I just took my admissions test for graduate school. I’ve got to work on getting all my admissions paperwork done. I’m look forward to working on my Master’s degree. Soon it will be all studying and very little playing.

It seems weird to go to an American restaurant. We stopped in the Macaroni Grill on base. The place was huge; nothing like the little hole in the wall Japanese places. The menu was in English with US prices listed. No deciphering required. The waitress kept coming back to check on us. We didn’t have to get up to pay the bill. The food was awesome. There were free drink refills and the amount of food we were given was way too much. We all took half of it back to our room. Cool, two meals out of it! We are just not use to that much food anymore. It’s just been so long since we gone to an American restaurant that was truly American and not the Japanese version of the American restaurant.

Spontaneity is my middle name this week. I was planning on getting to Okinawa to see J, but the timing just hasn’t fell just right. I threw all that out the window & headed to the terminal to see if there was SpaceA (free flight) room. We were lucky to get on. There were 8 people waiting to get on a 5 seater plane. I’m not very good on planes. My motion sickness gets the best of me most of the time. It wasn’t any different this time; it was a great flight until the landing. I was asked if I was ok. B is so casual about it. B goes, “She always gets sick”. Like it’s nothing new. The last flight to Tokyo it didn’t bother me at all. I really need to conquer this. Anybody got any tips?
We just managed to get to Okinawa just before J had to leave to do a two day training thing. Ok, so we got 15 minutes with him. Guess it is better than nothing. It was a little hard for B to see him for only a few minutes since he’s been gone a month now (5 more to go). When he gets back, we’ll do some fun stuff around his very busy work schedule; hopefully. At least B & I get a bit of a vacation. Today B & I hit the base shopping mall. We managed to find a few things, but amazingly there weren’t any toys that B liked. Since the distractions of home are gone I been studying; sort of, for my admissions test for gradate school that I have scheduled for Monday. They don’t give it at home, so I had to come here to do it. Just another excuses to come all the way down here to see J.

With just the two of us hanging around, it gets pretty quiet. We seem to just stay at home more often (didn’t help that I caught a nasty summer cold last week). There’s just not much to blog about. No one is really interested in hose clean details or what is on our very few choices of cable channels (by the time it gets here its old news anyway).
The weather been hotter than hell lately. It’s been a black flag week. For all non-military people that means: all nonessential physical activity will be halted. The air conditioning doesn’t even seem to help cool things off, but that didn’t stop us yesterday. I just had to get off the base and out of town. We went to the zoo. All I can say is who ever invented icees should be immortalized in stone. The animals seemed to do much better in the heat than we were. They didn’t even seem to notice. If I had to live outside, I guess I wouldn’t notice either. Even with the high temperature, I enjoyed a break from monotony.

I’m still around. We had company come visit us for a few weeks. Then J left & B & I made a trip to Tokyo on the shin (bullet train) to Tokyo to see what the Dr says about my carpal tunnel. Well my appt is not exactly over, I get to do a nerve conduction study next week, then a follow up in 6 weeks. Just give me surgery already, I want hands that don’t go numb all the time. I’m really going to push for them to fix them.
Now with things settling down, I’ve decided I need to get on a schedule. It really helps the deployment to go more smoothly. I really should work on some of my craft projects & do lots of reading with B. I’ve been wanting to redesign the webpage look with something more my personality. I’ve got to fix this double posting thing. New updates can be a pain.
